But sometimes I look at her and think..
damn..she's the kind of chick that, were she born in America,
would have had a boyfriend who died fighting overseas for a stupid cause.
That kind of "Moron turned Hero by mass media" type character..a proper

And I can imagine her receiving the news of his death from his
Commanding Officer, and how his family got really close to her afterwards.
Almost adopting her. And how she never got engaged again, because she didn't want to taint his memory.

She's just so..proper.
Her humour is proper.

She's not funny.
At all.

It's funny how she tries so hard to be funny but fails miserably at it.
Every time.

Yet..she's one of those people that you can't help but love. I don't get it.
I want to laugh at her stupidity but I can't..she's just..too nice.

So very, very..nice.

The "Girl Next Door" part was written for her.
In a big budget musical, she'd be the blond, blue-eyed choir girl
you kind of remember.

All my life I’ve wanted to be the kid who gets to cross over into the magical kingdom. I devoured those books by C.S. Lewis and William Dunthorn, Ellen Wentworth, Susan Cooper, and Alan Garner. When I could get them from the library, I read them out of order as I found them, and then in order, and then reread them all again, many times over. Because even when I was a child I knew it wasn’t simply escape that lay on the far side of the borders of fairyland. Instinctively I knew crossing over would mean more than fleeing the constant terror and shame that was mine at that time of my life. There was a knowledge – an understanding hidden in the marrow of my bones that only I can access ― telling me that by crossing over, I’d be coming home. That’s the reason I’ve yearned so desperately to experience the wonder, the mystery, the beauty of that world beyond the World As It Is. It’s because I know that somewhere across the border there’s a place for me. A place of safety and strength and learning, where I can become who I’m supposed to be. I’ve tried forever to be that person here, but whatever I manage to accomplish in the World As It Is only seems to be an echo of what I could be in that other place that lies hidden somewhere beyond the borders.

In March of Two Thousand and Eight, Year of Our Lord, I managed to buy my first SLR Nikon.

This pretty little D60 has served me so very well.

But time has passed, I have learnt, I have grown, and I feel a change is due.
This has to be done as organically as tomatoes are grown by my grandmother
in her garden every other decade.
So the question is..what should be the next step? The vast and all knowing Internet has helped me compare and contrast models of amazing cameras:

For all the praise I give them everywhere I go, the Nikon people should present me with the key to their factories, and let me choose the camera that fits my demands best.
Also, I should be allowed to take five different lenses to help get my creative juices flowing more often.
To seal the deal, they should give me a nice satchel in which to keep all of these items they so lovingly have offered to me.

Still, I am baffled by the variety of this company's products..I could do so well owning more than half of them. Alas, since I am but a mere Acting Student, I shall have to decide on just one. And in the end, I fear the eliminating factor shall be the pennies I would have to throw at them from my small, patched up pocket, and not the quality their magical black boxes posses.

Once upon a time in Far Far Far Far Far Far Far Away Land , lived a young and impressionable fairy. We shall call this fairy Plum.
Plum was in love with anything that had to do with art. She would do everything in her powers to help people escape THE REAL WORLD, a place she dreaded ever since she first met one of it’s inhabitants.
But because she was so keen to help, other fairies became suspicious of her intentions. “Art, my sweet Plum, is not something that THE COMMON MAN can understand or relate to…” the wiser fairies told her.
“Oh My God, that’s like…so true! Art has always been magical, ya’ know?! So we should never let it slip into their mundane little universe!” the younger fairies added.
Plum was devastated. She had no idea where she belonged anymore. So she packed a light bag, she imagined happier times, and she floated away towards THE REAL WORLD.
No one in Far Far Far Far Far Far Far Away Land really knows what goes on in the COMMON MEN’S lives. Stories back home were so gruesome and vile they soon became legends, legends became myths, and myths were now viewed as fairies own TEN COMMANDMENTS.
But as Plum made her way through the space fog surrounding THE COMMON MAN’S blue planet, she felt no harm would ever come to her as long as she kept true to her heart’s desires.
Entering the atmosphere, the pressure was too big for our small fairy; she blanked out only to find herself, hours later, surrounded by huge colourful plants and trees, while lying on a flowerbed, clearly put together for someone larger than her.
Then, she heard the most unusual sound. It was loud, but not threatening…more similar to a fairy’s cry for help. She looked around until she miraculously found it. Plum was stunned. It was ♫♪THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BABY IN THE WORLD♩♬. She asked for it’s name, but all the blue-eyed, golden-hair baby kept saying was “Oh”. So Plum flew around the flowerbed, searching desperately for Oh’s mother, but no other MAN was in sight. So she kept the baby safe, feeding him the best fruit, clothing him with the best silk to keep warm, playing and filling up his life with as much magic as she could, for four long COMMON MAN years, that seemed more like four short seconds in fairy time.
When Oh’s real mother came back to the flowerbed, Plum was scared; she feared for her life, feared what the COMMON WOMAN might think. But Oh’s mother began to cry…she looked at the fairy; Plum could see those were tears of joy. She only said thank you. And then they left.
Amazed of how very little time MEN take for all the important things in THE REAL WORLD, and how much time regular chores and basic survival will take. Plum finds her way out of what she now referred to as “OH’S GREENLAND”.
Travelling north, she stumbled upon a dark and crowded forest. Around her, creatures she would have never believed to exist were lurking in the shadows, as if only waiting for her to look the wrong way and grab her by the neck! Plum kept her head up high and her heart opened, until she saw a calming light, that drew her towards the centre of the forest. The light was coming from the heart of an old, majestic willow tree.
Plum was amazed. She approached the tree, hugged it, and as it came to life, it spoke to her:
“I know what you seek.”
So the innocent fairy said:
“Then where should I wander to next, oh wise one?”
…“Go East; Go East!”
Our fairy was full of joy. Finally, her real adventure could begin. She stormed out of the forest and flew for five COMMON MAN HOURS, with nothing to munch on…not even cheap roasted peanuts.
When she landed, she felt the cold concrete pavement beneath her feet, and she began to hide her wings underneath baggy clothes, covering her face with makeup and holding her mouth not to sing as she hopped around the COMMONERS.
The first COMMONER Plum ever met was called Low. Low was the most common COMMONER of all the COMMON MEN Plum has ever met. Low would make her way back into and again out of Plum’s life many, many times, before eventually disintegrating. She is underachieved, underdressed, underaged, undergoing maintenance, but, she is a shape shifter. Plum thus knew that no matter what height, eye-colour, dress size or family name; a Low was still a Low.
Walking ahead, pacing herself and trying not to seem out of context, Plum bumped into a Prince. Now, she met a couple of Dons and a few Barons before in THE REAL WORLD, so she knew how to interact with those of noble breed. But this was a Prince, a real life, COMMON MAN PRINCE, like the ones in her fairy grandmother’s tales. She couldn’t even speak! Thankfully, she needn’t to. The COMMON PRINCE did all the talking. He explained how empty his life has been for the past couple of COMMON MAN YEARS, how lonely he felt without creating art and how his wretched witch-wife made him give up music, his one and only true love.
Plum felt like she was looking into a mirror. Like someone was digging through her thoughts and feelings and…even better, he was s Prince!
“If you kiss me, Plum, the witch-wife’s spell will be broken, and I will be able to sing again!” said the COMMON PRINCE, leaning towards the fairy.
“If I don’t, I’ll have all eternity to deal with ruining your life” said Plum, and then she kissed him.
Not a moment passed, and the COMMON PRINCE was floating above Plum, who kept calling his name, trying to grab hold of his legs without using her wings in front of all the COMMONERS.
All of the sudden, a grand explosion. Plum opens her eyes to see in front of her a toad. She scans the place for the COMMON PRINCE, but he cannot be found. “I’ve turned him into a toad!” Plum thought.
Not a COMMON MAN MINUTE later, a slightly oversized hippo comes running towards the scene screaming “Who kissed my prince?”
So Plum slowly takes a few steps back and leaves the COMMON PRINCE to handle his witch-wife on his own. Apparently, a toad and a hippo make a better match than a Prince and a Fairy.
Plum is now exhausted, and though she witnessed many more happenings in THE REAL WORLD, she managed to make her way through it all. Through COMMON MAN RECESSION and COMMON MAN NEW YEAR PARTIES; through COMMON MAN EDUCATION and COMMON MAN REVOLUTIONS; she even managed to meet more good COMMON MEN like Oh and his mum, and she helped them out as well. She kept on going, kept on pretending and no one ever found out who she really was and what she could really do.
Alas, she finds herself at a crossroad. On her right - EAST- and all that the willow tree promised, all that art stands for, all that the fairy ever truly wanted. On her left...a boat, and it’s COMMON MAN CAPTAIN screaming at her “Don’t worry, it’s an enchanted boat, come with me and I’ll take you back to Far Far Far Far Far Far Far Away Land where you will be safe and miserable for the rest of your fairy life!”
Cold, hungry, drained of power, Plum thinks how simple her life could be from now on. She made it all the way to THE REAL WORLD. It will never seem like such a harsh place to live in because of her. She could actually change all the Far Far Far Far Far Far Far Away Land fairies’ preconceptions. She would be fed with a silver spoon from a golden platter until the end of time.
But then, she thought of choosing EAST. She thought of the unknown. She felt the chills of a new adventure already beginning in her imagination.
“No thank you. Not now...nor ever, for that matter! I’m happy, I know I’m heading the right way and…oh no! I’m late for my first class at East 15!

She is tired. So very tired. Keeps thinking to herself what it would be like if she was on a plane, travelling towards some wonderful new adventure. She loved to travel.
She needs a break. Just to sit quietly, by herself. Not lifting a finger. Not moving a muscle.
She needs to go out. She needs to hear the sounds of a guitar being played right next to her. Feel the beat of the drums, all the way to her stomach. She wants to have fun with her friends, for once, just once, without feeling guilty the next day for making out with the lead singer of the band.
If only it were summertime again. She could visit Austria, just like the year before, and the year before that, and the year before that. Or, better yet, just go to France. She always said she’ll move to Paris one day. The thought of having more than one place she could call “home” made her smile. Like Boston. Or Amsterdam. Or Barcelona. Anywhere she can watch black and white films without feeling judged. Art, for her, is not necessarily what is hip.
She should get her own place soon. Buy some new clothes as well. Start off fresh somewhere exciting things always happen. She should meet someone that could make things exciting for her. And buy her some new clothes. BECAUSE HE LOVED HER. Because he would do anything to see her smile.
What would it be like if she would have the time and support she needs to be creative? Would she paint? Can she even remember how to? Could she make something out of nothing? Would that thing be treasured by anyone?
She wants a toaster. A magical toaster. The kind that makes bread not stick to your thighs once you eat it. She wants bigger boobs and a smaller bum. She should have the perfect skin and the longest hair. If she’d ever want to start smoking, they should make milk and cereal flavoured cigars. She should be hugged more often.
She should watch more films. Read more adventure books. Listen to new bands that make great music.
She should never again try to make people like her. It should come naturally. New York could never bring her down; she should move there and live in a hotel that serves freshly squeezed lemonade everyday, and garlic bread that doesn’t make your breath stink.
She should go dancing more often. She should get laid..more..often. She shouldn’t cry so often.
She must end up wherever she wants to. No matter how much time it can take, she has to end up in the right place at the right time.

For once.

Why would anyone in their right minds cancel Eerie, Indiana after only one season?

Apart from my previously mentioned obsession for a prepubescent River Pheonix in Stand By Me, Omri Katz ruled my FOX Kids infected mind. I was around ten years old when the show aired in my country..but after all these years, it’s still at the top of my favourites list. And it's a hard list to get on, believe me.

Twenty years old and Eerie still gives me the chills sometimes. Maybe because the script is so amazingly awesome to begin with. Truth be told, I was a pretty smart, definitely over analytical and somewhat quirky kid that wouldn't go for all the bogus family flicks T.V. stations were feeding the nation with..but looking back I can see that the weirdness of the storyline is not the only reason I enjoyed it so much. Those kids were such great actors. Even the ones who only had guest appearances fitted in perfectly with the Gore/Sci-Fi vibe, which can only mean that casting was something those people took seriously.
The parents, the setting - including their house with the raddest attic I've ever seen, the pretty '80s fashioned styled girls who one after the other became Marshall's love interest, the wacky neighbours that kept walking into his life for no apparent reason - like the Foreverwear Lady who used to freeze her twins every night and who is beautifully played by a Lisa Marie look-alike, the spookiness of the character portrayed by yet unknown
box-office success Tobey Maguire, or every other Mummy,
Big Foot and Elvis impersonator that walked the town's streets.
Everything to do with Eerie, Indiana looks magical to me. Still.

So many reasons to watch it, so little episodes.
